Who we are

# The art is the point. The science is the proof.

Strategy, design and production for brands that needed the work to do something, not just look like something.

Where we come from

## Making the case for good work

Extreme Arts & Sciences has been designing and building for enterprise clients long enough to have shipped through several complete turns of the industry, and long enough to be unsentimental about which parts of it mattered. The practice grew a second business along the way: when the hardest briefs clients brought us stopped being design problems and started being engineering and AI ones, that work became Digital Arts & Sciences. Same people, same company, different discipline.

Extreme Arts & Sciences

## Both halves of the name are load-bearing

The creative half and the analytical half of this work are not in tension, and treating them as separate departments is how agencies produce work that is either beautiful and ineffective or effective and forgettable. We measure what we make, and we make what we can defend.

Built in-house

## The disciplines are ours

Most of what an agency promises is really a promise about who does the work. Ours is that the strategy, the design, the production and the build are staffed in-house and have been for decades — so the person who made the argument is still in the room when it is executed, and the second round of changes does not go to a different company.

- ### Strategy

The argument, before anything gets made

Positioning, audience and measurement, done as its own piece of work rather than as the first hour of a design project. It is the part clients are most often tempted to skip and the part that most reliably decides the outcome.

    - Brand and digital strategy
    - Audience research and positioning
    - Content and editorial planning
    - Measurement frameworks
- ### Design

    Interface, identity and art direction

The craft the practice is named for. Experience and interface work, brand systems, and original artwork — held to a standard that survives contact with a real product rather than looking right only in the presentation.

    - Experience and interface design
    - Design systems and component libraries
    - Brand identity and art direction
    - Illustration and original artwork
- ### Production

    Video, motion and campaign volume

Finished media, made here. Video and motion through to delivery, and the campaign-volume production that most studios of this size subcontract.

    - Video production and post
    - Motion design and animation
    - Campaign and social asset production
    - Interactive and rich media
- ### Build

Shipped by the people who designed it

Front-end build, CMS and application work, integrated with whatever the client already runs. Design and build are one team here, so nothing is lost in a specification handed over a wall.

    - Web and mobile application development
    - Responsive build and CMS integration
    - API and third-party integration
    - Accessibility review and remediation

Four disciplines, one team. The strategist who made the argument is still answerable for it when the work ships, and no part of it is quietly subcontracted to someone the client never meets.
